What is cloning?
Cloning is taking an exact copy of a location or asset that has previously been created, e.g. a complete location with sub-locations, so you can adapt it by changing specific details to meet your needs. This saves you having to start from scratch every time you want to create something on the system which is similar to something which has previously been created.
What can you clone?
This guide helps you are to clone locations and assets.
For cloning risk assessments and tasks see ‘Risk Assessment from Clone’ and ‘Cloning another Task’ in the Help Centre.
Why would you clone
If for example you have multiple hotels with the same or similar lay out (locations) and assets it speeds the setting up process. E.g. All of your hotels have a reception, bar, restaurant, kitchen, staff room, public toilet, multiple bedrooms etc. and the only variant is the number of bedrooms and restaurant name. Once cloned you would only have to amend the information rather than enter it all again.
How do you clone?
From the ‘Account Management’ tab you select which element of the system you would like to manage. For example, you click on ‘Manage locations’ and select the item you want to copy e.g. the location hotel A with a sub location of bedrooms 1 – 500, click the ‘clone’ button and rename the new location Hotel B. You can then amend Hotel B e.g. Hotel B only has 200 bedrooms, so you can easily alter the set of sub-locations to bedrooms 1 – 200.
