This part of the system enables you to enhance the permissions of the pre-set roles for a group of users. For example, you could have a small number of users that require an additional level of access, without wanting to give them full access to everything.
Here there is the example of ‘Supervisor’. Their permissions can be set to override those assigned to the general user group. You simply select the permissions you want to allow the users to have.
The reason for wanting to have a ‘Supervisor’ permission group may be because you do not want to give them ‘manager’ access to the site however ‘user’ doesn’t give them enough access, so you are able to create a permission group to give them access at the right level.
How to create a new Permission Group
Select the Admin tab at the top of your screen.
Under Permissions select Manage Permission Groups.
Select ‘Add’ in the top right hand corner.
Create the title and then select the appropriate permissions via the tabs on the left.
How to add someone into a Permission Group
It is important that you create the permission groups prior to adding new users.
From the Admin tab, select ‘Manage Users’
Next to the list of users you will see this symbol
When you select this, the list of permission groups you have created will appear and you will be able to add the user to the selected permission group.
You are able to add them into more than one permission group if required.
Once you have selected which permission group you want to add the user to, click save.
You are unable to add collaborators into permission groups.
What happens to a user if their Permission Group is deleted?
If a user, or group of users, are in a Permission Group that is then deleted, their permission’s will fall back down to those set for their User Permission.
Permission group don’t override role permissions so the team member will have all of the role permissions for ‘user’ as well as additional permissions associated with ‘supervisor’.
In the permissions group setting a tick will override a blank in role permissions.
